The African Foundation for Women and Youth in Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (AFoWYESTI) conducted an inspiring mentorship and career guidance programme at Oloolua Senior School in Ngong, engaging more than 700 Form Three and Form Four students in an interactive session designed to empower them for academic success and future careers.

Led by Executive Director Prof. J. Catherine Ngila, the AFoWYESTI team, comprising Prof. Ruth Wanjau, Dr Damaris Felistus Mulwa, and Dr. James Munyao King’oo shared valuable insights aimed at equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and motivation to pursue their aspirations with purpose and determination.

The mentorship programme focused on key areas essential for personal and professional growth, including:

• Building strong character as the foundation for lifelong success.

• Career guidance and making informed academic and professional choices.

• Developing resilience and overcoming challenges while pursuing excellence.

• Effective study techniques and examination preparation strategies.

The students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm throughout the session, actively participating in discussions and engaging the mentors with thoughtful questions about education, careers, leadership, and personal development. Their curiosity, ambition, and eagerness to learn reflected the immense potential of Kenya’s next generation of leaders, scientists, innovators, and professionals.
