Ms Lucia Kiio is pursuing a PhD degree in Chemistry and has a passion for education. She is involved in community outreach activities, including mentorship of youth. She has worked in the education sector for over a decade. Her research in chemistry is in the field of electrochemical sensors and nanotechnology for detection of lung cancer. She is very active in the mentorship of students through the Macheo Achievement Program (MAP) at Strathmore University. The MAP initiative has been instrumental in reducing dropout rates among students from informal settlements and improving their access to higher education. Over 500 students have successfully completed high school through this program, embodying the transformative power of mentorship in education.
